Visitors to one of the UK's most haunted spots have reported seeing spooky spirits and hearing loud, "violent" shaking sounds.
A huge mansion inside Berry Pomeroy Castle is claimed by paranormal experts to be plagued by angry ghosts, who are upset after attempts to move them on.
The spirits are 'insulted' by inappropriate clothing and drunk people shouting, it's claimed.
Matt Kerbyson, 47, from Torquay, has been visiting Berry Pomeroy Castle since 1996 with other ghost hunters.
He claims the spirits in the ruins have been upset by efforts to drive them out, reports DevonLive.
Matt explained: "I don't think Berry Pomeroy Castle is the most haunted place in Britain – that's an exaggeration. But it is ONE of the most haunted."
Matt said: "A Paignton couple claimed they had moved the spirits on – but it's not true.
"The spirits are angry because they are happy to be there. It's disrespectful to claim they are 'stuck'. Berry Pomeroy is their home.
"Some people go there when they are drunk and start shouting and hollering and acting silly."
He added: "Even the way we dress can be seen as insulting and too revealing to them – remember that even in Victorian times a woman couldn't show her legs in public. It's rude to them. They see it as bad etiquette when visitors to their castle home behave."
The ruins of a Tudor mansion within the walls of the Medieval castle have surely seen their share of murders, battles, pestilence and plague.

Matt explained: "The real reason the area is so haunted is half because there have been murders, horrible deaths and battles at the site over the centuries – and that leaves a kind of ghostly imprint, a bit like a song stuck on repeat recording.
"The other half of the reason is that the spirits choose to interact with people. Ghosts are completely different – they are like an imprint which attaches itself to a place. But spirits interact: they are people who have passed but who have decided to stay earthbound rather than moving towards the light."

To anyone planning a Halloween ghost trip to the castle, Matt warns visitors to go without any expectations and to "show these spirits respect in their homes."
The castle's most frequent paranormal visitor is Berry Pomeroy's famous white lady, who ghost hunter Emma Jones claims to have seen many times.
Emma said: "She’s mainly on the ramparts, sometimes in the tower. All in white, difficult to describe the dress but blonde hair with a hairpiece, maybe flowers. She knows I’m there and I sometimes don’t see her at first and then glimpse her from afar.

"Once a really reliable car didn’t start for us in the car park, it had never happened before. I looked up and could see her looking at me from the tower. I always feel uncomfortable about being alone anywhere in the castle because I know I’m likely to see her."
Sam Fradley was left feeling shocked and creeped out after hearing a loud shaking whilst taking photos late at night.
Sam said: "I heard violent and loud shaking of the main gate at the gatehouse which freaked me totally out which went on for at least under a minute.
"My experience has opened my eyes more with the spiritual realms."
Other claimed sightings at the castle include a 'medieval' woman seen in daylight and a "hostile" Romany slave girl.
Matt says he saw the famous white lady for the first time last year and that the experience felt strangely peaceful.
He said: "The strange thing is that they say if you see the White Lady you or one of your loved ones will die. This was in October. In November my mum passed away. She had been ill for some time but her death was unexpected."
Matt added: "If anyone has had any paranormal experiences at Berry Pomeroy Castle or photos that they would love to share, please contact the Berry Pomeroy Castle Ghosts and Spirits and Entities page."
