Parkgoers were left stunned when an alligator on a lead was walked around by its owner.

Britt Miller, who was out taking a walk with her daughter, told thePhilly Voice: "We were just walking by LOVE Park and saw this kid playing with an alligator in the fountain.

"Of course, there was a ton of people around taking pictures. The girl (who had the alligator) seemed to be with her family, who were sitting off to the side. They were super friendly. People were picking up the alligator, petting it, all sorts of stuff."

Other pictures even emerged on Twitter of Wally being picked up and hugged by humans.

One poster wrote: “He also likes being held?? His main caretaker seems to be a young girl so I’m not posting pics of her.

“Just a big snuggle bunny????”

An image of the gator being held in a man’s arms with his head over his shoulder is hauntingly and confusingly cute.

In the images, Wally can be seen wearing a harness that says “emotional support” on the side.

It is thought the animal is Wally Gator, who has an official TikTok account with over 69,000 followers and is thought to be owned by Joie Henney, who lives locally enough, in New York.

On Wally’s official account a post read: “Wally enjoyed the day in Philadelphia!"

Henney, who has cancer and has set up aGoFundMefor Wally and the other reptiles he cares for, told USA Today he took Wally to Philly for a meet and greet with local residents.

It is understood Wally was rescued by Henney when he was 14 months old from Floria in 2016.

"He wants to be loved and petted," Henney said to the York Daily Record at the time.
