Grieving mum slams vile thieves who nabbed toy fire engine from her son’s grave

A mother has slammed a vile thief who stole a toy fire engine from her young son's grave and says it's the fourth time his final resting place has been targeted.

The unnamed mother, from Ostrów Wielkopolski, a city in west-central Poland, posted about the incident on a local Facebook page, calling the guilty party a "cemetery hyena".

The woman revealed it was the fourth time the grave had been stolen from, and added she hoped her post would reach the thief and encourage them to return the plastic toy bought for her deceased child's birthday.

She said: "What kind of person do you have to be to rob children's graves? Our baby's grave in the cemetery on Bema Street just got robbed for the FOURTH TIME!

"This time it was a toy – a fire truck. Thief, aren't you ashamed? This is incomprehensible to me that you will probably give this car to your child or grandchild, and for me it has sentimental value – it was bought for a birthday."

Writing in Polish, she added: "May your hand dry! Karma is coming back around!

"Please share, maybe the thief will move his conscience and give back the toy."

People, naturally, were appalled by the story.

"God, how can you do this, parents after losing a child want to celebrate a birthday with their beloved angel and this happens," one person said.

Other people revealed their loved ones' graves had been desecrated, too. One woman said people had stolen flowers from her mother's grave, while another woman added her daughter's grave had been targeted.

"Please get used to it, they've been robbing my daughter's grave for 8 years. Now less often, but at first they took everything," she explained.

And it transpires it is a real problem in the area. Media company Wirtualna Polska offered advice online, saying: "One way is to gently destroy the items so that they bear traces of use.

"Thanks to this, the thief will no longer be able to resell the item as new."

They also suggested installing a small monitoring device.
