Hoarder’s mad Stella collection had enough empty cans to ‘fill an entire lorry’

A waste management firm has revealed that one hoarder’s insane stash of empty Stella cans and leftover takeaways was enough to fill an entire lorry full of rubbish.

An unbelievable set of photos of the Plymouth property was taken by Matt Goodman, managing director of waste management firm ClearJunk, which specialises in clearing the houses of hoarders.

Matt told PlymouthLive that the “impressive” hoard, which he said was 90% made up of old Stella cans, was up there with the worst jobs he has done so far.

He said that since starting ClearJunk in the middle of the Covid-19 pandemic, few jobs are able to shock him and his team any more.

Matt said: “We come and clear it and then that's our job done.

"Nothing fazes me now, as you can imagine. We do this day in, day out, but to be fair this job was impressive, I've never seen that many cans. We managed to fill an entire cage tipper with just cans."

Despite the massive hoard of Stella cans and old takeaway boxes with rotting food inside, he and two others were able to clear the house in just one day.

After finishing the job, Matt advised the unnamed property owner to “start again” because of the damage caused by the hoard of rubbish.

"The roof has been leaking over the years, there have been rats, there have been mice and there was a cat there at some point and a dog there at some point,” he revealed.

"You can imagine where all the food has been rotting and where the beer cans were, there were no carpets so it's all dripped through the floorboards. The smell is still there because it's all soaked in.

"To be fair, it didn't smell like alcohol. I think because it had been like that for so long it was just the smell of rotting food."
