A Google Earth user claims to have found a whole host of mythical creatures on the famous mapping software.
TikToker @hidden.on.google.earth has more than 1.8 million followers who flock to his page to see his weird and wonderful discoveries.
He recently thought he had found the infamous Bigfoot standing at the side of a road after coming across a large hairy figure.
Reactions were mixed in the viewer comments as to what it could be – with some agreeing it could have been Bigfoot while others suggesting it was nothing more than a statue.
But Daily Star can reveal that is not the only legendary monster that the TikTok user has supposedly found over the years.
We’ve picked out our three favorite sightings below – let us know what you think in the comments!
Loch Ness monster
With literally thousands of “sightings” every year, interest in the Loch Ness monster is bigger than ever.
There has never been scientific evidence to support the theory that a huge long-necked creature inhabits the famous Scottish loch but that hasn't stopped people flocking to the region in the hopes of finding it.
And, in a video shared in October 2020, @hidden.on.google.earth claimed he had “found” it.
The clip shows him zooming in on the portion of the lake near to Fort Augustus.
He drops a pin and then pans the camera until it rests upon a strange figure that bears startling similarities to so-called Nessie “sightings”.
Google Earth mysteries
The object seems to have most of its body submerged under water apart from its long “neck”, which is facing towards the viewer.
Thousands of people rushed to the comments section to voice their suggestions.
“Omg, Nessie people spend their life’s searching for her and she’s just on Maps,” one wrote.
Another commented: “What the… I’m never going in the water ever again.”
But there were also plenty of sceptics, with the overwhelming view seeming to be the shape is nothing more a wooden log.
Kraken
Sightings of the mythical kraken have cropped up across fiction and history, with supposed witnesses describing seeing a terrifying tentacled sea monster of gigantic size that prays upon sailors.
There is no scientific evidence to prove it exists, with historians often dismissing “sightings” as people simply coming across giant squid.
But films such as Pirates of the Caribbean have made sure its mythical aura continues to this day.
And the TikToker has added to its legend by sharing footage of his own “sighting”.
In a clip titled “Have I just found the extinct Kraken”, posted last November, the man zooms in on an unnamed harbour.
Submerged just meters away from the line of boats lies what looks like a red blob.
When the uploader gets in closer, it looks like it has tentacles and fits the description of a huge squid-like creature.
Some viewers were freaked out by the sight, with some asking if it was real and others worrying they wouldn’t be able to sleep.
But there were also more plausible explanations – the most common one being that it was nothing more than a fishing net.
Megaladon
The megaladon – a huge shark with an average size of over 10 meters – is the only monster on this list to have actually existed.
It went extinct approximately 3.6 million years ago but, despite that, people are often claiming to have encountered it out at sea.
The TikTok user also believed he spotted it on Google Earth, saying a video in November with the caption: “I have just found the giant extinct megaladon.”
Focusing on what looks like a snowy region similar to Antarctica, he zooms in on a lake to find a long white figure in the centre.
From above, it looks like some sort of huge sea creature and some in the comments were freaked out by what they saw.
“There are a lot of things we haven’t yet discovered so some things can be hidden down there that we think are extinct but one can still be alive,” one said.
Another wrote: “But they are extinct now… or not. Oh hell no that is not a good thing.”
Again, though, others found more plausible explanations. Given the snowy region the “monster” was found, some suggested it was simply a “piece of ice”.
And others claimed it could have been a ship.
