If you didn’t think smartphones were expensive enough, designers have now created a £35,519 ($48,080) version of Apple’s latest flagship smartphone, the iPhone 13 Pro Max, made from 18 karat gold.
The exclusive edition, called ‘Total Gold’, has been crafted by luxury accessories company Caviar and is limited to just 99 copies.
It’s been elaborately engraved in an ‘artistic baroque style’ and includes an inscription of the model’s information and unique phone number. And it’s not just a swanky case; the phone itself is included.
For those with the cash to spend, Total Gold is available as either an iPhone 13 Pro or the iPhone 13 Pro Max in a range of storage sizes – the cheapest setting you back an eye-watering £31,319 ($42,390).
The London-based luxury accessories firm Caviar has created a range of themed iPhone 13 designs, of which Total Gold is just one.

Caviar describes itself as an international brand of exclusive designer smartphones and accessories handcrafted from luxury materials.
It says the swanky Total Gold model is an ‘exquisite jewel’ designed specifically for ‘luxury adherents’.
‘Elegant work on artistic engraving on jewelry metal and a rich ornament in a baroque style add models of luxury and individuality,’ Caviar says in its description of Total Gold on its website.
‘Caviar gold corona symbolises superiority, high status and decisive nature of the owner.’

Caviar’s Total Gold is an option solely for the iPhone 13 Pro and the iPhone 13 Pro Max.
Caviar has actually crafted multiple exclusive variations of Apple’s new device, ranging in price from $6,000 (£4,400) to the Total Gold’s max price of $48,080 (£35,519).
All the models have different themes and are listed on the firm’s website.
Elaborate names for the designs include ‘Gold Alligator’, ‘Yacht Club’, ‘Olive Rays’, ‘Moon and Sun’ and even ‘Cathedral of Christ the Saviour’, named after the holy building in Moscow, Russia.
‘Cathedral of Christ the Saviour’ is another phone in Caviar’s luxury series. This one is named after the cathedral in Moscow, Russia
Green Tourbillion, another model. Caviar says it has patterns resembling the image of the planets and their orbits as a reference to a watch’s tourbillon mechanism
Many of the models are inspired by various Rolex watches, including Yacht Club, which mimics the design of the Rolex Yacht-Master II.
Green Tourbillion, meanwhile, has patterns resembling a watch’s complicated interior tourbillon mechanism.
And yet another design, called ‘Musk be on Mars’, references SpaceX founder Elon Musk’s ongoing mission to reach the Red Planet.
Only 99 copies have been made of each design, so interested Apple fans with the spare cash better act quick.
