President Joe Biden awkwardly left a press conference after being asked what he thought of Barack Obama admitting the government was investigating UFOs.
It comes as the Pentagon confirmed a number of baffling videos of "unidentified aerial phenomena" are genuine.
Former president Obama – who Biden served under as vice president – told The Late Late Show: "What is true — and I’m actually being serious here — is that there’s footage and records of objects in the skies that we don’t know exactly what they are.
"We can’t explain how they moved, their trajectory … they did not have an easily explainable pattern. So I think that people still take seriously trying to investigate and figure out what that is.”
But when Biden was asked by a reporter to respond to his former boss's claims, he said: "I would ask him again" before leaving the press conference.
The 46th president was wrapping up a joint news conference with South Korean leader, Moon Jae In, when Fox News White House correspondent Peter Doocy asked him about flying saucers.
“President Obama says that there’s footage and records of objects in the skies, these unidentified aerial phenomena, and he says we don’t know exactly what they are,” Doocy said. “What do you think that it is?”
But Biden was in no mood to answer the question and made an abrupt exit.
It comes as UFO footage captured off the coast of California has been confirmed as authentic by the Pentagon who said the mysterious video had been taken by US navy sailors.
The clip, taken aboard the USS Omaha, shows an unidentified object moving across the sky before diving into the ocean and vanishing from view.
The filmmaker who first leaked the footage, Jeremy Corbell, described UFOs as a "concern of national security" following the rare decision of the US military to confirm the sighting.
Speaking exclusively to Daily Star, the LA-based journalist revealed discussions had been had that there could be an "underwater base" where the UFOs are emanating from.
And he also suggested there were plenty more videos yet to be released.
