King Charles’ infamous ‘sausage fingers’ make surprise Glastonbury appearance

King Charles and his “sausage fingers” have become somewhat of a major talking point in recent years.

The 74-year-old monarch has infamously chunky red fingers and they were made even larger with a surprise appearance at Glastonbury over the weekend.

No, the King didn't join Elton John to blast out a rendition of Crocodile Rock – although that would have been better than some of the “surprise” guests who did join him.

The festival has become known for having large flags on bendy poles which feature popular memes or in this case an image of the King's blown-up digits.

A picture of the flag went viral on Twitter, gaining a whopping 517k views in less than 24-hours.

One person wrote: “Now this makes me feel all patriotic.”

A second commented: “Bonus points if it's on a van selling sausages.”

Several users dubbed it the “flag of the weekend” and the “best flag ever”.

However, there is a serious side to the aforementioned sausage fingers.

Earlier this year, Dr Gareth Nye told the Daily Star that there could be serious health issues at play.

  • 'I'm heavily pregnant at Glastonbury – I didn't want to miss out on the fun'

He said: ““King Charles has always been known to have large fingers and previous suggestions for the possible causes away from his individual anatomy included oedema which is where fluid leaks out of the blood and stays within the tissues nearby leading to a swollen appearance.

“Although King Charles's fingers are swollen, I do not feel that in this case oedema is the [the correct diagnosis] due to the length of time they have been like this in addition to the apparent worsening of the situation.

“Nor do I feel that gout is the cause.

“The most likely cause here is as it was 6 months ago and that King Charles is suffering with arthritis in the hands which seems to be worsening with time.

“Arthritis is an extremely common condition in people over 60 however can be extremely debilitating and can limit movement of the impacted joints.”

Despite the seriousness, it does appear that the British public will forever enjoy making a joke out of the Head of State's hands.
