A man has broken the world record after hanging 710 baubles from his beard as a unique way of getting into the festive spirit this Christmas. Joel Strasser, from Kuna, Idaho, broke the record on December 2 after hanging 710 ornaments with a multitute of different sizes, materials, and colours from his beard. Joel and Guinness World Records documented his process in a video posted to the company’s Instagram page. The entire process took Strasser over two and a half hours, then another hour to remove them completely.
Joel guessed that the weight of the baubles added another five pounds to his face.
He said: “December of 2019 was the first time I stuck an ornament in my beard and the first time I broke the record,’ he told the record-breaker publishers. ‘Ever since then I’ve re-broken my own record every Christmas as I’ve improved my beard bauble technique.”
Guinness World Record describes Joel as a “serial world record breaker,” noting that he has also achieved other records primarily on objects placed in his beard.
Some of Joel’s other world records include number of paper straws in the beard (534), chopsticks (520), toothpicks (3,500), and golf tees (607).

Joel has competed for so many records that the company even decided to place a small cartoon caricature of him on the cover of its 2023 Guinness World Record Book.
Joel also plans to continue breaking other beard records. Just days ago, he posted another festive video stashing candy canes in his beard on his Instagram page.
His beard records are far from the strangest records people compete over at Guinness.
In 2021, some of the strangest records broken include the number of spoons balanced on a person’s face, the longest distance carrying a table with one’s teeth, and the world’s longest moustache.
