A mum was left spooked after re-watching baby camera footage to find her daughter waving while a strange voice whispered "help me".
Reddit user " MeLzASS_" was initially convinced it was a prank by someone who hacked into the camera system, but she changed her mind after raising the volume of the clip.
Posting the clip on a sub-reddit group to ask for opinions, she said: "I was watching my daughter wave to the camera thinking it was absolutely adorable. [I was busy texting my realtor about a home I planned on buying.]
"I take another look at the nanny cam and hear something disturbing. I heard heavy breathing…. and I replayed it again and I swear I could hear someone saying 'help me'."
At the beginning of the video, the mum stands in front of a mirror inside the room and is watching her daughter through the reflection.
While the toddler girl is playing on the ground, she suddenly gets up and walks towards the monitor, which is mounted on the wall in the room.
Heavy breathing can be heard before a voice seemingly says "help me" a few times.
The girl climbs up to her bed and waves at the camera. The video cuts right after she shakes the curtain.
'Ghosts' on camera
The mum said the lightbulb in her room "exploded" later that night right before she went to bed.
Viewers who have watched the clip were left terrified and many believed there was an entity in the room.
One wrote: "Shivers down my spine, seems real and sounds like a spirit."
Another commented: "That whole video gives me chills because of your daughter's reaction….She WAVED at the camera and was looking directly into it and tried to reach 'it'. Oh my God."
Others said the breathing sound and the whispering appeared to have come from the speaker of the camera and suggested if it was hacked by pranksters.
But the mum said she has activated a two-way authentication when using the camera, adding: "I would have heard it if they were using the 'speaker' oh and they would have had to hack my account."
She also messaged customer service at Arlo, the baby camera brand.
The response stated: "Please know that, the Arlo cameras are secure and it cannot be hacked. The Arlo system is designed to maintain the highest level of security to keep your videos private and secure in the cloud.
"AES encryption protects your information. This is the same encryption method that financial institutions use to safeguard user data. AES-128 bit encryption and Transport Layer Security [TLS] ensure that your Arlo camera videos are secure to and from the Arlo camera and base station."
