Mums storm out of raunchy Father’s Day event as strippers give dads lap dances

A misguided Mexican mayor has been slammed after trying to spice up his town’s Fathers’ Day event by hiring a troupe of lap dancers.

Miguel Villalobos, mayor of the southern town of Huehuetán, organised the event which featured live music, comedians and a raffle.

But shocked mums stormed out after a group of bikini-clad strippers appeared and proceeded to offer lap dances to the fathers present.

In fairness to Mr Villalobos, his announcement of the event on Facebook had made it clear that the celebration was aimed exclusively at men.

A day ahead of the controversial celebration on Friday (June 16), he wrote “Tomorrow! Don't forget, an event just for dads, the day has arrived”.

However hundreds of locals turned up, including numerous mothers and children.

Local media outlets report that several mums had brought their kids along to what they believed would be a “family” event,

But video footage shows delighted men lying on the floor of the venue, while strippers cavorted suggestively above them.

A statement from 50+1 Collective Chiapas Chapter, a local women’s rights group, condemned the rowdy get-together, saying “sexually suggestive dances” were an inappropriate message.

“Father's Day was conceived to highlight the importance of the father figure in people's lives, emphasising his role in the integration and maintenance of the family nucleus” the statement read.

“Therefore, it is unfortunate that …José Manuel Angel Villalobos, on the occasion of this date, has offered a show that reproduces gender stereotypes, reducing women as sexual objects.

“Placing women in a place of subordination and reproducing patterns of objectification and domination constitutes symbolic violence.'

The group also called on local officials to receive proper training on gender issues to ensure that women's rights are not violated. Mayor Villalobos had not yet addressed the event.
