A "smoking UFO" has been filmed falling from the sky over a UK town – but due to the coronavirus lockdown there were "very few witnesses".
The object was filmed by Luke Cradock, of Bradford on Avon in west Wiltshire, who said he was called out to his garden by his wife after she had seen something "falling" in the sky.
Mr Cradock said he and his wife first thought it was an plane due to the white vapour trail it left behind.
But they said it looked like it was falling at a very slow speed, rather than moving away from them – and black smoke soon started billowing out the back of it.
Tweeting a video of the unidentified falling object, Mr Cradock wrote: "Anyone see this falling from the sky few minutes ago? Video doesn't do it justice, was in distance but looked huge, further it went down big black trail then appeared. Plane crash?"
He told Somerset Live that the UFO fell for nearly 10 minutes and the white vapour trail changed to thick black smoke towards the end of its fall.
To add to the mystery, he says a friend of his claims to have seen it too – all the way from London.
Mr Cradock said: "We have found that this April is currently quite active for meteor showers but I have also read that these pass quite quickly and this did not.

"At first we were concerned it was a plane in difficulty but the longer we watched the more we felt it did not fit this assumption.
"We would not normally spend this much time investigating something like this, but the fact that we can't work out what this was and that very few seemed to have witnessed it, and there has been nothing on the news, so we are just intrigued to find out what this was."
Mr Cradock is still trying to find out what exactly happened here and is calling for any other witnesses to shed light on it all.

"We have been waiting for something to appear on the news regarding this but we haven't seen anything as of yet," he said.
"We assume with the current lockdown there would have been very few witnesses."
Sarah Jefferies, from Hilperton, Trowbridge, managed to capture clear footage of the incident.
She said: "This is what we captured on the same day and time. We live in Hilperton Trowbridge.
"We too first it was from an aircraft but what took our attention was how it was falling vertically straight down at such a slow speed. It was just bizarre. Would love to find out what it was – it was the strangest thing we have ever seen.

"My friend's husband said they (International Space Station crew) were docking that day so perhaps (it could be debris from that)?
"I don't normally take much interest in these things but I had to comment because everything the other person had said was exactly what we had witnessed. It was too bizarre not to say anything.
"There was something so strange about it that we stopped to watch. I didn't want to worry my children so before the video, I just said it could be something amazing falling from space.
"I think that's why my son didn't seem at all worried. My youngest did come downstairs at bedtime crying because he was frightened not knowing what it was. He calmed down eventually. I wish I could explain it."
