‘No smoke without fire – there must be UFO wrecks out there’ says UK’s ET expert

Real-life UFO wreckage is probably sitting "in a hangar somewhere" because mankind doesn't know how to properly use it, the UK's top alien expert has suggested.

Nick Pope, who spent 21 years working at the Ministry of Defence and three running its UFO desk, told the Daily Star in an exclusive chat that he believes "whistleblowers" are the best bet of the existence of extraterrestrial life being confirmed.

Psychic spoon-bender Uri Geller claimed last year that he knows aliens exist – because he has held a piece of a UFO in his hands.

Mystic Geller says he held a piece of UFO handed to him by NASA aerospace engineer Wernher von Braun at Goddard Space Fight Center in the US back in 1974.

And it's encounters like that that Pope believe will play a crucial role in the truth finally being out there.

When asked if Uri Geller could really have held part of an alien spaceship, Pope told us: "I can't rule it out."

"Perhaps it's like that scene at the end of Raiders Of The Lost Ark. We have recovered something.

"If we acquire alien technology 50 years ahead of us we might be able to figure it out. But if we recover technology a million years ahead of us, not unlikely in a universe 14billion years old, we probably wouldn't have a clue.

"A smart phone to someone in the Stone Age would be a flat shiny rock. Maybe we are in that territory. Maybe it just sits in a hangar somewhere."

And Pope believes Uri Geller's tale in particular has a notable provenance.

"Uri Geller does undeniably have links with both US and Israeli intelligence. It's an intriguing possibility for sure," he went on.

"Why wouldn't you want to show it someone like Uri just in case?

"It's like the scientists have tried to figure this out. We can't. Let's bring in Uri Geller. Why not? See if he gets a sense of something.

"There are too many rumours about debris for them not to be true. There is no smoke without fire.''

Nick Pope appears in a new National Geographic series UFOs: Investigating The Unknown, which starts on Tuesday (May 2) and explores the on-going US probe including eyewitness accounts and declassified footage of sightings.
