A never-before-heard mystery radio signal has been detected from deep inside a black hole.
Named GRS 1915+905, and found around 28,000 light years away from Earth, the hole doubles as a star after they merged at some point.
And while the signals have been discovered before, a new strange sound has emerged, leaving scientists baffled.

The noises are usually created by the star inside the black hole, creating a jet stream that shoots signals out – but nothing like this new one has ever been heard.
And it is thought that it comes from deep inside the hole, and instead of being recorded in the normal range of 1-10 Hz, the new oscillations were spotted in January 2021, and June 2022 and were from 1.05-1.45 GHz.
It is thought that the signals are being made by the star turning againsts the black holes own rotation, but humans are unable to travel inside black holes so it is not likely that we'll know the truth any time soon.
Wei Wang, a professor of astrophysics at Wuhan University in China and the lead author of a new study about the sounds, said: “The peculiar signal has a rough period of 0.2 seconds or a frequency of about five hertz.
“Such a signal does not always exist and only shows up under special physical conditions.

“In accreting black hole systems, X-rays usually probe the accretion disk around the black hole while radio emission usually probes the jet launched from the disk and the black hole.
“The detailed mechanism to induce temporal modulation in a relativistic jet is not identified, but one plausible mechanism would be that the jet is underlying precession, which means the jet direction is regularly pointing towards different directions and returns to the original direction once every about 0.2 seconds.”
Studies of the combined black hole star continue.
