Onion with ‘face of Charles I’ on divides opinion as some see Charles Manson

From Jesus in a Cheeto to Susan Boyle in a Yorkshire pudding, people see all manner of faces in food – and now we've got King Charles I on an onion skin.

The king, who famously lost his head after he was executed in 1649, might have had the body reincarnated on the onion in a house in the UK.

Charles I was King of England, Scotland, and Ireland from 27 March 1625 until his execution in 1649.

"I found a portrait of Charles the 1st on an onion skin," an excited Reddit user posted on the site, inspiring others to comment on the faces they saw on the blotchy vegetable.

Some thought it looked like William Shakespeare, some saw famous rocker Frank Zappa, others Charles Dickens, while a handful even thought it looked like notorious cult leader Charles Manson.

"I see you've already chopped the top off. Force of habit, I suppose," one history buff commented, referencing Charles' be-heading on Tuesday 30 January 1649 outside the Banqueting House on Whitehall.

Throwing a spanner in the works, the original poster – who made spicy sausage and butternut squash soup – said later: "Well bugger me, I've changed my mind…. Its Guy Fawkes……"

"I see Peter Sutcliffe! Yikes!!" one person commented.

In 2017, pilgrims began flocking to a woman's home after an image of Jesus Christ "miraculously" appeared in a tortilla.

Housewife Iris Suyapa Caceres Castellanos said she was sitting down for dinner with her niece when they opened a bag of tortillas – and came across the "divine apparition".

Ms Castellanos said she "felt something coming into my body from the soles of my feet" when she saw the Son of God burned in the centre of the flat bread.

Since the "miracle" her house in the La Sidra community of Danli, in eastern Honduras, has received hundreds of believers from all over the country who have come to witness the apparition.

She said she believes the appearance is a "call from God for young people to come close to Christ”.
