A mum claims she was verbally abused and had the police called on her over a row with buggies on a bus.
She says she went to an earlier bus stop to ensure there would be enough space on the bus for her buggy.
When fellow passengers with buggies discovered what she did, they were not happy and called her a “queue jumper” and a “c***”.
But the woman does not think she has done anything wrong, reports The Mirror.
She explained to Mumsnet’s Am I Being Unreasonable? forum that she had just picked up her child from her childminder when she arrived at the bus stop and noticed there were already two mums with buggies waiting there.
She wrote: “Knowing that the driver wouldn’t let three of us on, I walked round the corner to the previous stop and got on there.”
When the bus arrived at the original stop, only one of the two mums who had been waiting was allowed on, and the other told to wait for 30 minutes for the next bus.
The mum who had gone to the previous stop in order to get on says she was met with a barrage of abuse as a result and that one of the mums “tried to shove [her] off the bus”.
She even claims the police turned up after being called by the driver.
The situation divided people on the forum, with one mum branding her “really selfish”, and another calling her “sneaky”.
“Was your pushchair foldable?” one asked. “You acted knowing that you would be taking the place of someone who had been waiting longer than you.
“Technically you didn’t break any rules, but you were selfish and sneaky in your actions.
“If your pushchair was foldable then you could have folded it, put it in the bag bit and held your child.”
However, others think the mum did what she had to to make sure she was able to get on the bus.
One person commented: “In my opinion, you just did the clever thing. Tough luck to the other one!”.
A second added: “You were smarter than them. I’d have done the same.”
“It’s not queue jumping to get on at an earlier stop. There is nothing which obligates you to board the bus at any particular stop,” said a third.
