SpaceX is targetting Wednesday afternoon (UK time) at the earliest for the Starship Serial Number 10 (SN10) to fly. SN10 is the third Starship prototype to launch from Boca Chica, South Texas, and SpaceX fans are keeping their fingers crossed it will be the first to survive its flight. The previous two iterations, SN8 and SN9, were both blown to smithereens after they failed to stick the landing.

One SpaceX fan tweeted: “SN10 if you land successfully, I’ll buy you a beer. Hi from Slovenia #wenlanding”

Another person said: “Good luck SN10, may you land safe! #Starship #SpaceX”

And a third person said: “SN10 already on final checkouts! Efficient early launch today? I WANNA SEE THIS BABY LAND!”

Starship could one day carry humans to Mars but the rocket is still in the critical development phase.

The stream features a round-the-clock view of SpaceX’s launch pad, filmed from about six miles away on South Padre Island, Texas.

SpaceX chief Elon Musk, 49, took to Twitter today to confirm the launch attempt to his more than 48.3 million fans.

The South African billionaire tweeted today: “Starship launch tomorrow. Window opens at 9am.”

He then confirmed in a follow-up tweet he meant Wednesday and not Thursday, saying: “March 3.”

And though SpaceX has not confirmed what time the rocket will blast off, the launch window opened today at 3pm GMT (9am CST).

According to road closures around Boca Chica, the window will stay open up until midnight GMT (6pm CST).

Backup closures have been issued for Thursday and Friday, just in case today’s test flight gets scrubbed.

Cameron County Judge Eddie Trevino Jr said: “Should SpaceX not complete its planned space flight activities on March 3, 2021, then SpaceX may use the alternate date to complete its test launch activities.”

The US Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) has also closed off the airspace around Boca Chica between 2pm and 12.30am GMT (8am and 6.30pm CST) today, tomorrow and on Friday.

SpaceX will host its own live stream of the launch minutes that will kick off just minutes before liftoff.

The broadcast will be hosted on YouTube and SpaceX’s website.

SpaceX said: “There will be a live feed of the flight test available here that will start a few minutes prior to liftoff.

“Given the dynamic schedule of development testing, stay tuned to our social media channels for updates as we move toward SpaceX’s third high-altitude flight test of Starship!”
