The supposed UFO was first spotted more than a year ago on the Helioviewer instrument. The online tool allows people to observe the latest snapshots of the Sun from various satellites, including NASA’s Solar Dynamics Observatory (SDO) and the NASA-ESA SOHO spacecraft. Self-professed ET expert and conspiracy theorist Scott C Waring claims to have stumbled upon the mystery object once again a year after his initial discovery.

Mr Waring took to his blog UFOSightingsDaily where he speculated wildly about the object’s origin.

He noted the triangle appeared near the Sun in regular intervals, claiming it could be an alien spacecraft.

The UFO hunter then went on to suggest the triangle was an entrance into a “hollow Sun” or some sort of wormhole.

It is worthing none of Mr Waring’s theories included more plausible explanations, such as a software glitch in the images.

Mr Waring wrote: “I was looking at the sun on Helioviewer this week and noticed the black triangle that I discovered over a year ago is still there.

“It seems to move every three months. I mean every three months it moves in the opposite direction.

“Very odd, but check out the video I made. It will all make sense.

“Now this could be a giant triangle ship, but I have seen some white cubes coming out of it, so I am wondering… if its a doorway from a hollow Sun? Or an open wormhole used for universal transportation?

“There are so many possibilities… but all of them point to intelligent alien life being responsible for this phenomenon.”

Mr Waring also took his discovery to his YouTube channel where it was met with a great deal of praise from like-minded UFO enthusiasts.

One person suggested the mystery object is monitoring our Sun’s activity.

Another person commented: “I wonder if this object is what protects the Earth from the worst of the Sun’s antics.

“If it is, then I’m extremely grateful that it’s there.

“We can’t be assuming doom and gloom all the time now, can we.”

And a third person said: “Looks alien to me…also makes you wonder what it’s made of…”

In all likelihood, however, the object is some form of a software glitch or data dropout.

NASA’s solar pictures are rife with black boxes and artefacts that appear when a satellite does not receive a complete stream of data.

According to NASA solar astrophysicist C. Alex Young, these dropouts occur frequently with the SOHO satellite.

He said: “A simple data dropout. The image stream for SOHO/EIT came in blocks so if part of the data was lost you got a missing block.”

As far as scientists are aware, Earth is the only planet to harbour life within our solar system.

Although chances are life and even intelligent life exists in another solar system or galaxy, the distances involved are too far for ETs to pay us a visit.

Instead, scientists are exploring worlds like Mars to see whether simple, microbial life ever developed there.

Mars is believed to have once resembled a young, wet Earth which makes it the best candidate to find fossilised microbes – the goal of NASA’s Perseverance mission.
