It’s late, your phone rattles against the bedside table, a familiar glow tears through the gloom. Someone wants your attention.
Whether it’s your boss pestering with another reminder, an ex ‘just checking in’ or yet more tiresome banter from that group chat you’ve been meaning to leave. Now is not the time.
Despite the desire to roll over and ignore the notification, the seed is planted. You need to know what the message says. But that last thing you want to do is let the sender know you’ve read it.
But there is a clever solution.
STEP ONE: Hold down the home page on your phone.
STEP TWO: Tap on ‘Widgets’ and the main screen will show all of the specific widgets available. Search for the WhatsApp widget and drag it onto the main screen.
The only drawback is that this feature is for Android users only.
But iPhone owners can, of course, disable read receipts in WhatsApp itself, to stop anyone seeing those two little blue ticks.
But this also means you are prevented from seeing when others have read your messages.
STEP THREE: Click done when the widget has successfully been moved onto the home page.
STEP FOUR: You can also make it full screen, which makes it easier to read.
How do I read long messages without notifying others?
So, first up you need to hold down the home page on your phone.
Next up, you will need to tap on ‘Widgets’ and the main screen will show all of the specific widgets available.
At this point, you need to search for the WhatsApp widget and drag it onto the main screen.
Then click on done when the widget has successfully been moved onto the home page. You can also make it full screen, which makes it easier to read the message.
After this is completed, scroll down to read all your messages (the most recent one will be at the top).
And remember. – don’t click on the message itself or else this handy trick would be all for nothing!
