Celebrating Halloween with a horror movie might do it for some, but for others only a truly terrifying experience will do.
Haunted houses and horror mazes have soared in popularity since the Orton and Spooner Ghost House first opened to spook guests in Hampshire back in 1915.
Anyone who has been to a handful however knows both Halloween pop-ups and eerie year-round attractions can be hit and miss.

We've scoured Tripadvisor for the wildest and most bizarre reviews of the planet's scariest museums and mazes, that may just help plan your next Halloween fright.
Things got very spooky for a couple at Zak Bagan's The Haunted Museum in Las Vegas, who claim to have suffered from an actual spirit encounter.
A woman wrote: "As soon as we walked out the door to leave the museum my husband got a bloody nose (staff warned us this could happen), and I felt extremely emotional.
"I nearly bursted out crying and it felt uncontrollable. I have no idea what affected me so much but it was overwhelming and I’ve never experienced anything like it in my life. Needless to say my husband now believes in the paranormal lol."
The impact of the haunting lasted well into the night for the pair who warned others to not take their visit lightly.

She added: "That night I had a very hard time sleeping because I kept reliving some of the experiences there and couldn’t get certain images out of my mind. I made sure to pray for protection and all was well after that.
"I do caution that you take this museum and all its haunted items seriously. I definitely recommend going but to know the risks and some of the things you may experience while there/after leaving."
Either Sorrel Weed House in Savannah in the American state of Georgia is legitimately haunted or they have their theming nailed on.
According to one man, his sceptical wife claims she felt someone or something touching her shoulder.

He said: "My wife did have an experience in the Dr's room, in the basement. She felt someone brushing/touching her shoulder. She brushed it off as hair the first time but it happened again the second time.
"When she turned around thinking it was me, there was no one there (I was in a completely different area of the basement). She was spooked for the rest of the tour, and she's a very big sceptic on the paranormal (not so much now)."
The most aggressive of all attractions appears to be in Ukraine's capital of Kyiv where one visitor claims to have been left with PTSD.
A bloke who dared to enter Insomnia Haunted House as part of a nine-man stag do said: "We all left changed men."

He continued: "Some of the party left with a stain or two in their underwear, definitely not for those with a nervous dispersion – highly recommended."
It is little wonder Insomnia left such an impression on guests based on the next post which claims it packs a bigger punch than just jumping actors.
Someone said: "Had a great time when I visited with a friend. My friend was chained to an oven while I was chained to a table or something and we both got tasered. Totally recommended."
A third added: "Never been so scared in my life. Defo got ptsd. Actors know what they are doing."

Apparent carnage unravelled at Ripley's Haunted Adventure in Gatlinburg, Tennessee, which has been slammed by one disgruntled customer.
They said: "Everyone had to hold on to each other in a row like kindergarteners because it basically pitch black through the whole thing. So it was sweaty strangers holding on to sweaty strangers.
"The leader of this string of humans was a younger child and was practically running. I tripped several times just trying to keep up.
"The worst part is the only actor working inside would scream in your face, So close you could feel her breath on your skin. She appeared at every corner to scream at you to not let go of the person in front of you, don't get lost in the dark."
