A security guard was left petrified when she heard "heavy footsteps" and saw flashing lights in the basement.
Reddit user "brassninja" shared her frightening encounter in a post and said her workplace in Asheville, North Carolina, US, is allegedly a haunted house that is currently used as an office for a real estate company.
In the video she posted, the lights are flickering while she stands in the middle of the room.
At some point, she could hear some faint noise from the ceiling.
"Okay, there's f***ing somebody upstairs and there's nobody here," she says while recording.
The woman gave more details in the comments, adding: "While I was checking the basement I noticed a light on that should have been off.
"When I went to turn it off, it began flickering and I heard what sounded like heavy footsteps and furniture being moved around in the floor above me."
She was also certain that there were no one in the entire building because she had just patrolled all the areas.
"A couple of my coworkers have their own ghost stories as well from this property," she added.
Viewers were convinced that the flashing of the lights seemed to be paranormal signs.
One said: "That was definitely freaky. I heard the sound of furniture being moved above. The way that light flickers even seems strange."
"Definitely sounds like furniture moving," a second added. "This is pretty freaky. I'd have a heart attack."
But others believed the lights could have been faulty wiring and the "footsteps" sound came from the water pipes.
A viewer explained: "The furniture moving sound and heavy footstep could be water hammer within those pipes in combination with thermal dilation of the house structure.
"As for the light flickering, any house that old with electric installed could be prone to malfunction. Overall, I doubt that this is really a 'haunted' house."
