Baby rushed to hospital after police chase ends in crash – and driver in his 20s arrested | The Sun

A BABY was rushed to hospital after a police chase ended in a horror crash last night.

The tot was in the back of a Seat which was hit by a Vauxhall Corsa in Wythenshawe, Manchester at 8.20pm.

Cops had been racing after the Corsa after spotting it being driven dangerously in Moat Road.

They attempted to pull the driver over – but when he failed to stop, officers gave chase.

The pursuit ended when the Corsa smashed into another vehicle in Hollyhedge Road.

A man in his 20s was arrested on suspicion of dangerous driving, failing to stop and driving whilst disqualified.

He remains in police custody for questioning today.

A spokesperson for the North West Ambulance Service (NWAS) said the baby was taken to hospital to be checked over.

The little one is not believed to have sustained any serious injuries.

Three other people were treated by paramedics at the scene.

A witness who had been working at takeaway Kebabilicious said they heard a "loud, loud bang".

"One car crashed into another and pushed it to one side of the street," they told the Manchester Evening News.

"There was a baby on board the Seat.

"It wasn't moving or crying. It was a scary situation for the family.

"The baby and the family seemed alright though."

A spokesperson for Greater Manchester Police said: "At 8.36pm last night, police witnessed a Vauxhall Corsa driving dangerously on Moat Road, Manchester.

"Officers carried out a pursuit before the vehicle then collided into another vehicle on Hollyhedge Road, Wythenshawe.

"The driver of the Corsa, a male in his 20s, was subsequently arrested on suspicion of dangerous driving, failure to stop and driving whilst disqualified. He remains in custody for questioning.

"No serious injuries were reported."

A spokesperson for NWAS said: "We responded following a call at 8.42pm.

"A baby was taken to hospital, three other walking wounded were also assessed."
