BBC Weather: UK issued amber warnings for snow and ice
Carol Kirkwood told BBC Breakfast that the Met Office has two amber warnings in place across England for snow. The BBC meteorologist stated that there is currently 16cms of snow in Kent but the weather warning is set to expire at midday in the region.
Ms Kirkwood said: “The Met Office has two amber weather warnings in force.
“One we have had for a couple of days across East Anglia and Kent.
“There is a new one across parts of Lincolnshire, south Yorkshire and the north Midlands.
“They are both for snow, the first one runs out at lunchtime, the second runs out in the early afternoon.

“Disruption is quite possible, we currently have 16cm of snow lying in Kent.
“We could also have 5cm to 10cm of new snow for some areas.
She added: “When you add on the wind chill to the temperatures you see on your thermometers it is going to feel a lot colder than that.
“It will feel like minus five, minus six or minus seven, a bitterly cold day.”
UK weather: Met Office forecast snow showers in some areas
Last week James Madden, forecaster for Exacta Weather stated the UK is set for heavy snow this week.
He said: “We will see a significant snow event spreading across large parts of the country into the early part of next week.
“As low-pressure clashes with a cold north-easterly wind, widespread and lasting snow will cover large swathes of the country, particularly across the north and east.

“Even southern regions, including the capital, could see some frequent and potentially heavy snow at times.
“Next week will come as a real shock after the recent mild conditions.
“This is likely to be the biggest and most disruptive snow event of the season so far for the UK.”
