Beyond Meat Chief Operations Officer Doug Ramsey, 53, was arrested on Saturday after he allegedly bit a man’s nose off in a road rage incident

The executive at a vegan food products company who allegedly bit a man’s nose has now been suspended from his job.

Beyond Meat executives announced on Tuesday that Chief Operating Officer Doug Ramsey, 53, has been suspended effective immediately.

Jonathan Nelson, the senior vice president for manufacturing operations, will now take over the vegan food company’s operations on an interim basis.

The announcement comes as the already-struggling company’s stocks plummeted in the days since Ramsey’s arrest outside a college football game.

He allegedly attacked another man who tried to inch in front of him in a parking garage traffic lane leaving Saturday’s game between the Arkansas Razorbacks and Missouri State Bears in Fayetteville, Arkansas, according to KNWA.

The fight eventually escalated, KNWA reports, until Ramsey pulled the other driver ‘in close and started punching his body,’ ultimately biting his nose and ripping the flesh off.

Ramsey has now been charged with felony battery and making a terroristic threat, and is being held in Washington County Jail on an $11,085 bond.

He is scheduled to appear in Fayetteville District Court on October 19.

It’s stocks are now down more than 23 percent over just the past five days

According to a police report obtained by KNWA, the incident occurred as Ramsay was trying to leave the parking garage at the University of Arkansas just after 10pm on Saturday.

He was allegedly in a traffic lane attempting to leave when a Subaru ‘inched his way’ in front of Ramsay’s Ford Bronco and hit his passenger’s side tire.

Ramsay is then said to have gotten out of his vehicle and ‘punched through the back windshield’ of the other car.

The driver of the other vehicle told police he then got out of his car, at which point Ramsay ‘pulled him in close and started punching his body’ and also ‘bit the owner´s nose, ripping the flesh on the tip of the nose.’

That man and a witness also reported hearing Ramsey ‘threaten to kill’ the man.

Eventually, occupants of both vehicles got out and separated the parties, and by the time an officer responded to the scene, he found ‘two males with bloody faces,’ the report states.

It is unclear whether Ramsey has an attorney who can speak on his behalf.

Prior to joining Beyond Meat, Ramsey spent more than 30 years at Springdale, Arkansas-based Tyson Foods, where he oversaw its poultry division and served as president of its global McDonald’s business

Its stock had fallen 85 percent since the beginning of the year, hitting a 52-week low of $15.97 on Tuesday before closing at $16.02

Ramsey has served as the vegan food company’s chief operating officer since December, when he was hired to help save the struggling business.

Prior to joining Beyond Meat, Ramsey spent more than 30 years at Springdale, Arkansas-based Tyson Foods, where he oversaw its poultry division and served as president of its global McDonald’s business.

At Beyond Meat, he has guided partnerships with fast food companies including McDonald´s, Panda Express and KFC.

But the vegan food company has been struggling in recent months with disappointing sales and investor skepticism over its long-term growth as Americans buy cheaper groceries to combat inflation.

McDonald’s also recently ended a U.S. trial of its McPlant meatless burger – developed with Beyond Meat – without confirming future plans for the product.

Its stock had fallen more than 85 percent since the beginning of the year, hitting a 52-week low of $15.97 on Tuesday before closing at $16.02. It is now down more than 23 percent over just the past five days.

As a result, the company is now worth just $1.02 billion — after being valued at $13.4 billion just three years ago.

Beyond Meat laid off 4 percent of its workforce in August.
