A MAJOR UK train station has been evacuated over a 'suspicious item' leaving all lines blocked in and out.
Birmingham New Street station is one of the busiest in the country, but multiple reports online have surfaced, saying that it was evacuated this afternoon.
The official CrossCountry trains Twitter account confirmed that all lines at the station are currently shut down.
The company announced that delays will be felt across their entire network.
Both CrossCountry and National Rail have confirmed that disruption at New Street is expected to last until 4.15pm.
Passengers were reportedly told to move as far away from the building as possible.

Twitter user Tamsin Parnell wrote: "Just got evacuated from Birmingham New Street station and told to move as far away from the station as possible.
"That was scary!"
Another user reported that undercover police vehicles and ambulances were on the scene.
One commenter asked CrossCountry if there was any further information available, with the company replying "not yet".

British Transport Police and Network Rail both confirmed that a "suspicious item" had been found on the platform.
One passenger tweeted that they had been told their train was delayed after a suspected hand grenade was found, though this is yet to be confirmed.
A BTP spokesperson said: "Officers received a report of a suspicious item on a platform at Birmingham New Street at 3pm today
"The station has been evacuated as a precaution and a cordon is in place while specialist officers attend to assess the item."
National Rail are advising passengers to check before they travel and to stay away from the station.
