Body is found after desperate search for missing 14-year-old who was last seen five days ago

  • The death is currently not being treated as suspicious by police 

A body has been found in the search for missing teenager Eric Lin, 14, who was last seen five days ago in Beswick, Manchester.

Police announced they had found a body yesterday afternoon, however have said that the identity cannot be confirmed until a formal identification process has taken place.

The body was found in Warrington, Cheshire, which is around 20 miles from where the boy was last seen.

Both Cheshire Police and Greater Manchester Police believe he may have travelled there on a bus.

It is not thought to be suspicious at this state and the boy’s family have been informed.

A spokesperson from Greater Manchester Police said:  ‘Greater Manchester Police can confirm that sadly a body has been found this afternoon in the Warrington area of Cheshire.

‘There are believed to be no suspicious circumstances.

‘A formal identification is yet to take place, but Eric’s family have been informed of the latest development.’

Detective Chief Inspector Gareth Davies added: ‘Firstly, our thoughts remain with Eric’s loved ones at this difficult time.

‘Formal identification is yet to take place, so we would ask that they have privacy whilst the investigation continues.’
