Body is found in hunt for missing teenager, 17, who vanished yesterday morning in Dorset

  •  Jack Gillespie, 17, was reported missing in the early hours of yesterday morning

A body was found in the search for a missing boy in Dorset. 

Jack Gillespie, 17, was reported missing after he had left his home in Worth Matravers at around 4:45am on Saturday June 10.

Search parties were carried out by the coastguard and Dorset Search and Rescue. 

Officers found a body in the area at around 9:15pm that evening. 

Although the body has not been formally identified, Mr Gillespie’s family have been notified.

The death is not being treated as suspicious and the coroner has been notified.

A Dorset Police Spokesperson said: ‘Officers carrying out searches for missing teenager Jack Gillespie in Purbeck have very sadly found a body. 

‘While formal identification has yet to take place, Jack’s family has been informed. 

‘We would like to thank all those who assisted with the searches and our thoughts are with Jack’s family and loved ones at this extremely difficult time. ‘
