A boy and woman have been taken to hospital with serious injuries after being hit by a car near an Asda supermarket during the morning school run.
The hit-and-run crash occurred on High Street in Kings Heath, Birmingham around 8.50am today.
The woman suffered head and leg injuries and the boy’s wounds were described as ‘serious’. The were taken to hospital and their current conditions are unknown.
West Midlands police are investigating the crash and working to determine who may have been involved.
Officers have found an abandoned blue BMW One Series that is suspected of being involved in the crash.

Police have diverged traffic away from the scene and many of the side roads are partially closed. High Street is expected to remain closed for some time. Evidence markers are placed at the scene on the crash
West Midlands Ambulance Service said the victims were treated at the scene before being transported to hospital.
‘Medical staff immediately began administering advanced trauma care to the first patient, a child, before conveying him via land ambulance to Birmingham Children’s Hospital for further treatment,’ a spokesperson said.
‘The second patient, a woman, was treated by ambulance staff for serious injuries and conveyed by land ambulance on blue lights to Queen Elizabeth Hospital for further treatment.’

A shocked witness recalled hearing a ‘big bang’ at the time of the crash.
‘It was really loud. When I came out a few minutes later there were a lot of police here,’ Ana Maria Ciocirlan told BBC.
Ms Ciocirlan explained that the ‘road is very busy’ in the mornings as parents take their children to nearby Kings Heath Primary School.
She alleged that the street keeps ‘getting busier and busier’ due to frequent road closures.
