Brain-damaged girl of two’s life-sustaining treatment can be halted, High Court judge rules

A BRAIN-damaged girl of two’s life-sustaining treatment can be halted, a High Court judge ruled.

Alta Fixsler cannot breathe, eat or drink by herself after a severe brain injury at birth. 

And she has no chance of getting better, Manchester University NHS Foundation Trust insists. 

Her parents said their Jewish faith meant they could not end her life and wanted her sent to an Israeli hospital. 

But Mr Justice MacDonald ruled against them yesterday, saying: “It would expose Alta to more pain and discomfort for no medical benefit.”
