Brian Laundrie's parents gave WRONG date that he 'went missing on hike' as their lawyer blames 'recollection'

BRIAN Laundrie’s family is under fire after their attorney revealed Brian’s parents gave the incorrect date for his alleged disappearance into the Carlton Reserve in September.

Brian "left to hike in the preserve" on Monday, September 13, not Tuesday, September 14 as originally shared, according to the new statement from lawyer Steven Bertolino.

Bertolino wrote in a text response to anchor Josh Benson from WFLA in Florida, "The Laundries were basing the date Brian left on their recollection of certain events.”

After consulting with the FBI and confirming the day Brian’s Mustang was found and returned to the Laundries’ home, Bertolino wrote, “we now believe the day Brian left to hike in the preserve was Monday September 13."

Benson shared the text messages on Twitter today, after a video from NewsNation Now featuring Brian's sister raised more questions the timeline of the narrative the Laundrie family has provided.

In the video, Cassie Laundrie reveals that Brian flew back to Florida in mid-August without fianceé Gabby to visit his family.

After, Brian flew back to Gabby, joining her in Salt Lake City and progressing on the road trip.

Then, Brian arrived back in Florida for a longer-term stay.

Cassie said that she didn't expect Brian to be present when her parents brought him to her house on September 1, nor did she know that Gabby was missing until later in the month.

"I don't know if my parents are involved," Cassie told Good Morning America on Tuesday.

"I think if they are, they should come clean," she added.

Laundrie is wanted by the FBI because he allegedly took Gabby Petito's debit card and spent $1,000 to return to Florida without her on September 1.

Petito family lawyer Richard Stafford claimed on Tuesday that Brian “stole her credit [debit per warrent] card.

“He used her credit card to get home and then ran from the police.”

Laundrie family lawyer Bertolino said in a statement when the warrant was issued that it focused on "activities occurring after the death of Gabby Petito and not related to her actual demise."

"The FBI is focusing on locating Brian and when that occurs the specifics of the charges covered under the indictment will be addressed in the proper forum," he added.
