Brit police officer struck off after ‘outrageous’ sexual behaviour towards woman

A police officer has been barred from ever working for the force again for “outrageous” sexually inappropriate behaviour towards a woman in a local pub.

PC Simon Williams has been struck off after an accelerated misconduct hearing took place on May 18 at Dyfed-Powys Police Headquarters in Wales.

Although Williams retired form the force in March, the incident happened in November 2022, which he fully admitted to during an interview.

Police say the offence "which occurred off duty and in a public house, involved sexually inappropriate behaviour towards a female member of the public, including sexually touching the victim without her consent”.

No other details have been made public about the incident.

Chief Constable Dr Richard Lewis, who chaired the meeting, said that the ex-cop should now be added to the College of Policing Barred List.

He added: “The fact that he was a serving police officer at the time of the incident makes this a particularly serious case," he added.

“Dyfed-Powys Police expects the highest standards from our officers, staff and volunteers and Mr Williams' behaviour in this case is a disgrace.

“Our thoughts are with the victim.”

Assistant chief constable Steve Cockwell, the appropriate authority for complaints and misconduct in Dyfed-Powys Police, said: “Dyfed-Powys Police expects the highest standards of professional behaviour from its officers and staff, both on and off duty.

“The behaviour of Simon Williams was totally unacceptable and the force will continue to relentlessly pursue any allegations of a sexual nature from both a criminal and misconduct perspective.

“The outcome of the hearing is reflective of this approach and I hope reassures the public that the force will do all it can to maintain high standards in respect of the conduct of its officers and staff, whether on or off duty and whether still serving or not.”
