Sadly, the 50-year-old died of her injuries in hospital on Thursday, with severe head injuries cited as the cause of death.
Following the accident the unnamed woman was rushed to a hospital on the island in the capital, Santa Cruz de Tenerife.
An older woman believed to be in her mid-seventies has been released from hospital already following what is suspected to be moderate rib trauma.
Police are continuing their hunt for the hit-and-run driver, with Civil Guard officers working alongside local police officers to find the man responsible for the tragic crash.

The driver is said to have stopped briefly at the scene of the crime, before speeding off after he saw the injured victims lying on the ground.
Local media have claimed the pair were hit from behind.
It is not yet known whether the 50-year-old and the mother were holidaying on the island or were residents there.
A spokesman for a regional emergency response group, speaking to The Sun, said: "The emergency call we received said the two women were injured by a vehicle that mounted the pavement."
