But not half as dispiriting as looking at the nation’s collective to-do list.
A study has found Britons have an astonishing 99million DIY jobs that need completing, such as putting up a shelf, fixing a leaky tap or just changing a lightbulb.
The poll, by emergency repairs business HomeServe, found that 64 per cent of us have outstanding tasks to do, with three being the average number of jobs that need doing.

That results in there being 99million fixes that require attention overall, the survey said.
The task most likely to be put off was cleaning the gutters, followed by re-grouting bathroom tiles and patching up holes in walls.
Bosses at HomeServe also found that it takes us 58 days on average to change a lightbulb, and that many of the jobs that need doing could be done in as little as 15 minutes.
