Capitol – Man tries to barge through checkpoint after MAGA fan, 71, found with ammo and ‘Stop the Steal’ papers

A MAN tried to barge through a checkpoint after a 71-year-old was found with a weapon and 20 rounds of ammunition.

This marks the third reported incident outside of the political hub in less than a week.

Dennis Westover, of South Charleston, West Virginia, was arrested on charges including possession of unregistered ammunition and unlawful possession of a firearm.

The pensioner was booked on Wednesday afternoon by US Capitol police, according to an incident reported obtained the Daily Beast.

The outlet reported that he also had his will and birth certificate with him, alongside "Stop the Steal paperwork that had a list of Senators and Representatives, both U.S. and West Virginia State Senators and Representatives, with contact info.."

Westover was arrested on Second Street and Washington Avenue, SW, on a handful of charges at 1.58pm.

He was stopped by cops "in the middle of an intersection" just a few hundred feet from the entrance of the Rayburn House Office building.

Inside of his vehicle, cops found a 9mm black Sig Sauer and 20 rounds of 9mm ammunition, according to the report.

According to the news outlet, it is believed Westover worked in the elevator industry as he is listed in union documents as president of Local No. 48.Elevator company.

It was then reported that another arrest was made near the Capitol.

Cops told WUSA9 that a man attacked an officer and tried to barge through a checkpoint.

A few days ago, a man with a "loaded gun in the car" was arrested near the White House after allegedly telling cops he "needed information about the Oval Office."

Santiago Macias of Midland, Texas, 37, was found with a pistol, two loaded magazines and 79 rounds of ammunition, near the Ellipse in Washington DC on Friday, court records say, NBC reported.

Police said he was arrested for carrying a pistol without a license, unlawful possession of a firearm and possession of unregistered ammunition, according to a report.

Westover and Santiago's separate arrests come a few weeks after crazed rioters stormed the US Capitol building in Washington, DC, on January 6.

Hundreds of people were outside the Capitol building during the violent riot in a bid to prevent Congress from certifying Joe Biden's presidential victory.

Following the madness, authorities discovered Molotov cocktails, guns, and bombs in the Capitol area.

The riot led to more than 50 people sustaining injuries and a handful of tragic deaths.

The deadly siege led to more than 25,000 troops getting deployed to DC to protect the Capitol during Biden's inauguration.
