A man who arranged to meet his blind date at his favourite restaurant was shocked when the woman turned up with 23 of her relatives in tow.
The young man, a Mr Liu from Jilin Province in China, was introduced to a Ms Zhang through a matchmaker. Their initial chats went well and they agreed to meet at a restaurant they both knew.
Sure enough, Ms Zhang turned up to the date on time. But while Liu was probably imagining a cosy tête-à-tête, Ms Zhang was accompanied on the date by almost two dozen of her relatives.

Liu did his best to take it in his stride, but was gobsmacked at the end of the evening when he was presented with the bill.
The the total cost for the extravagant affair totalled some 20,000 Yuan (which is about £2,250), reports Thai news site The Thaiger.
The extended Zhang family had thoroughly enjoyed their evening, according to Liu, ordering large amounts of expensive cigarettes and only the finest wines and spirits.
Liu couldn’t afford to pay the massive bill himself, and instead chose to make a hasty exit. Ms Zhang, left holding the bell, was obliged to pay it herself. She later got in touch with Liu and asked him to repay her half the amount.

When Liu countered with an offer of just 4,000 Yuan (just over £450) the outraged Zhangs decided to take legal action against him.
After reviewing the case, reports Thai news site Sanook, a judge ruled in favour of Liu.
He was told to pay just 1,400 Yuan – £157 – which was enough to cover what Liu himself ate and drank, along with the cost of his date’s meal.
It’s not recorded whether Mr Liu and Ms Zhang managed to schedule a second date, but the odds are not good.
