Chilling photos show the two Indiana high school students who were killed in a car wreck on their way to prom beaming in their matching formalwear — just moments before the tragedy.
Lendon Byram is pictured pulling his girlfriend Kalen Hart close as they smiled for the snaps before they died in the two-car wreck Saturday night in Hamilton County.
In the last known image of the couple, Byram wore a suit along with a maroon tie to match his girlfriend’s floor-length empire-waist gown.
But the pair never made it to the Hamilton Heights High School senior prom.
“My 18 year old daughter, along with her boyfriend, were killed in an automobile accident on her way to prom,” Hart’s mother, Jody Bartrom Conaway, wrote on Facebook.
Hart’s grieving mother said in a another post that she never was able to see her daughter in her gown.
“I didn’t even get to see my baby girl in her prom dress. I love you so much, Kalen Rae! I am so proud of the young woman you were becoming. Rest easy my baby girl,” she wrote.
Police are investigating the crash and don’t believe drugs or alcohol played a role.
Byram had been driving while Hart was in the passenger seat of the car during the crash, the Indianapolis Star reported. They were pronounced dead at the scene.
Two other students in the backseat were hospitalized with non-life-threatening injuries, the outlet reported.
The driver of the other vehicle refused medical attention at the scene.
All prom-related activities were scrapped following the deadly crash, the newspaper reported.
