Clinics probed over claims they gave free IVF treatment to women who gave away half their eggs to help infertile couples

HEALTH watchdogs have probed fertility clinics over claims of poor women being exploited.

The clinics are said to have offered free IVF treatment if they gave away half their eggs to help infertile couples.

Doctors were said to have told women that “an egg isn’t a baby” and donating them is similar to giving blood, the Daily Mail claimed.

Fertility pioneer Lord Winston said: “I fear some in my profession have no moral or ethical compass.”

Health Secretary Jeremy Hunt added the findings were “serious and worrying”.
