Comedian punched in face by heckler during gig after pouring beer over his head

A comedian was punched in the head by a heckler during a live show, as shown in a dramatic video of the violent confrontation.

Alex 'Shooter' Williamson was performing a stand-up routine in Rockhampton, Queensland, Australia, when an audience member began to heckle him, LadBible reports.

The funnyman allegedly ignored the interruptions at first, but then retaliated and upended a drink of beer on the man's head.

Enraged, the man then charges towards the stage and Williamson tries to hand him the mic.

But instead of grabbing it, the man decks the comedian in the face instead, sending his head lurching back with the force of the blow.

Security then grabs the man and throw him out of the building as the audience erupts into cheers.

Williamson uploaded the clip on his @shooterwilliamson Instagram on March 23 and bluntly captioned it: "Punched in the head during live show tonight."

The video was watched more than 300,000 times and many fans and fellow comedians were supportive, saying he had handled the verbal and physical abuse well.

"Goes to a comedy show and can’t take a joke," fumed one.

A second person said: "That mead head has the IQ of an axe wound."

Someone else commented; "Glad you’re alright brother, f*** that guy. All love."

"Dude was definitely hearing WWE entrance music in his head, should have set up some fireworks for the big c***s walk down the aisle," said another supporter.

"Imagine paying for tickets & then hating it this much," commented a fan.

Williamson previously had a heated row with a heckler in Adelaide who is alleged to have thrown a beer bottle at him.
