Country mansion in Jersey boasting its own wine store, gym, orangery, ponds and private woodlands could smash property price record as it goes on the market for £40 million
- The Maison de la Valette was listed for £39.95million – almost £15million more than it was sold for in 2016
- It has four reception rooms, a swimming pool, a large games room, nine bedrooms and 14 bathrooms
- If the asking price is met, it will crush the current record sale of £31million for a property on Jersey set in April
- Sitting on 18 acres of grounds and approached by a long driveway, the property sold for £25million in 2016
A country mansion in Jersey could be about to smash the property price record after being listed for almost £40million – almost £15million more than it was sold for five years ago.
Maison de la Valette sold for about £25 million in September 2016 but has been put back on the market for an asking price of £39.95million.
If the price is met, it would eclipse the current record sale of £31million for a property on the Channel Island of Jersey set earlier this year.
The Maison de la Valette, in Jersey, has been listed for almost £40million
It sits on 18 acres of ground on Trinity on the island, about three-and-a-half miles north of capital St Helier
It has been listed as a ‘neo-classical-inspired property set in beautiful tranquil country surroundings’
The property also features an outdoor swimming pool
Maison de la Valette – in Trinity on the island, about three-and-a-half miles north of capital St Helier – sits on 18 acres of grounds and is approached by a long, tree-lined driveway.
It is described by estate agents Wilsons Knight Frank as a ‘neo-classical-inspired property set in beautiful tranquil country surroundings’.
On the ground floor it has a reception hall, drawing room, dining room, library, orangery, kitchen and breakfast room, atrium, palladian-style entertaining complex with sitting, dining areas and kitchen, changing facilities, and a garage with enough space for three cars.
It also features large bedrooms, nine in total
There are 14 bathrooms within the property
It is approached by a long, tree-lined driveway
The stunning property would break property price records if it sells for its asking price
There is also a separate building for staff, 4,000 sq ft stables, paddocks, ponds and private woodlands
A home gym is another of the additional features
In all, it has four reception rooms, a wine store, a cinema room, a gym, a swimming pool, a large games room, an office suite and an orangery as well as nine bedrooms and 14 bathrooms.
There is also a separate building for staff, 4,000 sq ft stables, paddocks, ponds and private woodlands.
The asking price dwarfs that of Eden House in St Brelade in Jersey’s south west, which currently holds the record for the island’s most expensive property.
That property sold for £31 million – £6 million more than the asking price – in April after two millionaires became embroiled in a bidding war.

And at £39.95million, Maison de la Valette would be more than twice the £18.625million Daisy Hill House in Grouville which was sold six years ago. At the time, that was the then highest price ever seen in the Island.
Kevin Lemasney, head of high-value residency at Locate Jersey, which attracts wealthy individuals and businesses to the Island, said that the super-rich who were seeking to move to Jersey search for ‘something unique’ which had, in part, led to recent high prices.
His firm has already exceeded its target of attracting 15 super-rich immigrants to Jersey every year.

Earlier this year, it was revealed 17 applications by High Net Worth Individuals (HNWIs) had been approved by Jersey’s assistant chief minister.
Between them, they are expected to spend an unprecedented £100 million on property.
He also pointed out that additions by a new owner – such as the cinema room and gym installed in Maison de la Valette – were guaranteed to increase the asking price substantially.

Mr Lemasney said: ‘If a property is worth £1 million it will sell for £1 million. If it is worth £20 million it will sell for £20 million.
‘It is not about price inflation. When you get into the £20 million mark you are paying for a property that is absolutely unique.
‘A house in St Brelade’s Bay may have beautiful views but Maison de la Valette has total privacy, with its long, tree-lined driveway.’
