Steer clear! Cowboys ride to the rescue and help state troopers round up cattle running along an Idaho freeway

This is the moment two cowboys helped Idaho State Police capture two cattle that had escaped their pasture and were running along an Idaho highway on Sunday.
Amanda Chapman filmed the footage on the I-84 interstate highway between Idaho and Oregon at around 1.15pm on January 2.
In the footage, cowboys on horseback can be seen attempting to herd the cow before one of them bolts out of the median and into the road, past Ms Chapman’s car.
The video, which Ms Chapman uploaded to Facebook, has been viewed over 137,000 times with the incident even prompting Idaho State Police to release a statement condemning those who slowed down to film the cows.
Police dispatchers in Idaho had recieved calls about cows blocking traffic on the interstate between Idaho and Oregon at around 1.15pm on January 2.
When Idaha State Trooper Weinstein and Sgt Farley arrived, they found two cows in a construction site between lanes with another safely off of the highway.
Troopers had originally tried to wrangle the cows by using their patrol cars to direct them back into their owner’s trailer but this did not work.
Fortunately, two cowboys on horseback showed up and managed to marshal the rogue cows back into their trailer after getting them off the road.

The wrangling took hours to complete with the highway being closed for short periods as a reuslt.
The cows and all witnesses were unharmed and the bovine are safe back in their pen.
Amanda Chapman, who filmed the scene, is heard narrating the footage saying: ‘We’ve got some cowboys and an angry cow taking off on the freeway’.
Idaho State Police took to Facebook to slam drivers who recklessly slowed down on the interstate in order to film the bizarre scenes.
They posted: ‘The happy ending almost didn’t happen. Many passing motorists stayed focused and alert as the cowboys and Troopers did their best to wrangle the wayward cattle.

‘However other drivers took their eyes off the roadway and hands off the wheel to capture photos or video.
‘Several even stopped in the middle of the interstate with cameras out and collisions were only avoided thanks to those drivers who stayed focused.
‘To those alert drivers – thank you.’
