A DAD who lost 90 per cent of his face in an acid attack has revealed he needs ten years of reconstructive surgery.
Andreas Christopheros, 32, was targeted on his doorstep in a horrific case of mistaken identity that left him in a coma for four days.
He told of his ongoing recovery as major supermarkets pledged not to sell corrosive liquids to under-18s in a huge victory for The Sun.
He revealed: "I'll certainly be having surgeries for the next five to ten years.
"I'm without eyesight in my left eye and limited in my right and as time goes on, there's potential for me to go completely blind".
This weekend it was revealed high street names including Tesco, Waitrose and Morrisons have joined DIY stores Wickes, B&Q and Screwfix by signing a voluntary commitment for a ban on dangerous acids being sold in store or online to youngsters.
Andreas backed the move, but called for tougher sentences, saying: "I believe any person who carried out an acid attack, no matter how severe the injuries are, the attacker should be facing life with a minimum term of 20 years.
"On top of that, one bit of legislation which I'd really love to see be pushed through is a decanting legislation; to make it an offence to decant acid from its original, well-labelled bottle, into any other receptacle.
"I've always stood by the fact that if someone wants to get their hands on acid, they're going to get their hands on acid".
"I think if people are willing to cross that line, they need to have a sentence which completely justifies that crime.”
Andreas was attacked after answering his front door in Truro, Cornwall, in December, 2014.
There he founds painter and decorator David Phillips holding a beaker of battery acid.
He had travelled 300 miles from his home in East Sussex to take revenge on the individual who had assaulted a member of his family.
But he had knocked on the wrong door and brutally assaulted an entirely innocent father of one.
At the time of the attack Andreas worked for his family's property and events business.
He added: "It's been a tough ride.
"It affects every aspect of your life.
"Even when you sleep; from the moment you wake-up, everything is a challenge.
"At the moment, this is the best I've looked in three years.
"It's a long road to recovery.
