Danielle McGuire and daughter to be evicted from St Kilda hostel

Underworld associate Danielle McGuire and eldest daughter Brittany will be evicted from a St Kilda hostel after failing to pay almost $100,000 in rent on the Punt Road premises where they run a budget accommodation business.

A warrant of possession was issued by the Supreme Court of Victoria on July 12, which authorises sheriff’s officers or local police to remove Ms McGuire and her daughter from the building where they also reside.

The application was made by a company called Early Years (Vic) Pty Ltd, which leases the property at 14-16 Punt Road and had sub-let several floors of the building to a company called Punt Road Hostel Pty Ltd.

Brittany McGuire, 25, is the director and owner of Punt Road Hostel Pty Ltd, while her mother, who famously travelled to Greece with drug kingpin Tony Mokbel as he tried to flee Australia, is the operator of the business near St Kilda junction.

It is unknown when sheriff’s officers or police will execute the warrant of possession, but Danielle McGuire has ignored requests to vacate the premises since April 21, when a locksmith and security guard unsuccessfully attempted to change the locks.

Brittany McGuire, formerly linked to murder accused Abdullah El Nasher, faces further legal action next month over allegations she failed to pay a building company that refurbished the property in 2018.

The builder issued three invoices over three months in 2018 that totalled $616,576, but received just one payment of $137.09, according to court documents.

The County Court ordered that Brittany McGuire and her company must settle a debt of $616,576 and pay a further $186,420 in interest, according to a judgment released on March 19.

However, that decision was set aside and the matter is expected to be next heard in the Supreme Court on August 8.

The court ruling to evict Brittany McGuire and her mother follows an incident at the hostel in September last year, when the 25-year-old turned up at the business with a badly broken nose.

As she recovered upstairs that evening, the building was the target of a drive-by shooting that left a gaping hole in a door.

Her mother, the former partner of underworld figures Mark Moran, Tony Mokbel and Toby Mitchell, was ordered to give evidence at a compulsory hearing at the Melbourne Magistrates Court in January, when details of the case against alleged shooter Morty El-Hassan, 26, were made public.

“We heard a big bang and then I received a call from one of the guests in the hotel asking me to come down,” the 48-year-old told the court.

“I went down … and there was a big hole in the back door.

“I walked towards it and looked through the hole. I saw a car. It was a dark car. Then I heard some more banging sounds”.

When asked whether she knew who had assaulted her eldest daughter earlier in the night or who Brittany was dating at the time, Ms McGuire said she didn’t and that she stayed out of her daughter’s business.

Danielle McGuire did not respond to requests for comment from The Age.
