Denver weather: Rapid warming Saturday to lead to days of spring-like weather

A series of warm, sunny days are expected to follow Friday’s snowfall, which dropped inches of snow across the Denver metro.

Temperatures in Denver are expected to quickly rocket upwards to a high of 46 degrees Saturday from the 15 degrees recorded Saturday morning, according to the National Weather Service in Boulder. After a cloudy Friday afternoon, sunny skies are expected to dominate the weekend and much of next week.

With 12.5 inches, Jamestown recorded the most snowfall Friday of the communities along the Front Range — more than double the 3 inches recorded at Denver International Airport. Ski areas in the Summit County mountains received a paltry inch or two in the storm Friday.

That snow might not last long in the city, however. Temperatures will hover in the mid- to high-50s Sunday through Tuesday. More snow is possible Wednesday, according to the weather service.

Despite more snowfall in the forecast, the National Weather Service in Boulder would like to remind people that spring is just around the corner. Daylight Savings Time begins March 13 and the first day of spring arrives a week later on March 20.
