The moisture Denver has enjoyed over the past few days has moved away from the city. Replacing the cool and occasional rain will be above-average highs and dry and sometimes smoky air. In the mountains, fire danger will elevate over the weekend.
On Thursday, the Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment is forecasting unhealthy air for all in the metro area. Ozone and fine particulates are in the air, forcing CDPHE to issue yet another air quality warning. The National Weather Service in Boulder predicts Thursday will top at 92 degrees, with areas of smoke disrupting an otherwise sunny day. Smoke will hang around into the evening when temperatures will drop to 62 degrees.
Friday will be even warmer, with a high of 96 degrees and poor air. It will be mostly sunny as the storm threat remains into the evening when temperatures will dip to 60 degrees. Showers do have a 20% chance of popping up after 1 p.m. with gusty winds nearing 25 mph.
Saturday will be sunny with a high of 89 degrees and a low of 60 degrees.
NWS warns of elevated fire danger in the high country with warmer weather and lower humidity over the next several days.
