Devastated dad of student murdered in Idaho bloodbath slams cops as ‘cowards’

The heartbroken dad of one of the four students brutally murdered in a bloodbath at their own home has accused cops of being “cowards” for not telling the public more about the atrocity.

Distraught Steve Goncalves, whose 21-year-old daughter Kaylee Goncalves died in the horrific tragedy, has revealed that victims had “big open gouges” – despite detectives warning he could compromise the investigation.

Kaylee was stabbed in her liver and lungs as she died alongside fellow University of Idaho students Ethan Chapin, 20, Madison Mogen, 21, and Xana Kernodle, 20, in a morbid crime that left blood oozing through the walls with the victims too scared to scream.

Cops are facing building pressure as they are yet to make an arrest over the morbid attack, with over 10 investigators working on the case and it also being looked at by nearly 50 FBI agents.

Steve Goncalves reportedly claimed in an interview that he thinks there is a lack of information being released to the public by police officers, and this could pose a threat to others, according to The Seattle Times.

He is quoted as saying: “They’re just being cowards. There are girls walking around the street right now that deserve to know. They should be looking out for a sadistic male.”

But top cop Roger Lanier has issued a statement explaining their decision, saying: “We’re not releasing specific details, because we do not want to compromise this investigation. It’s what we must do.

“We owe that to the families, and we owe that to the victims. We want more than just an arrest. We want a conviction. We owe that justice to Xana, Kaylee, Madison and Ethan.”

Whilst Idaho State Police spokesperson Aaron Snell added: “We have not felt the pain that they have felt. However, as law enforcement, we have to maintain the integrity of the investigation.

“We cannot provide some of the information that they’re looking for. We just can’t.”

The investigation into the killings continues, with today (Tuesday, December 13) marking a month since the four tragic murders.
