Disturbing 'evidence removed from Long Island Serial Killer suspect's house' after 'Gilgo Beach murderer arrested' | The Sun

SUFFOLK COUNTY POLICE has found disturbing evidence believed to be related to the Long Island Serial Killer arrest that was made this morning.

An eyewitness told The US Sun that law enforcement was seen "removing a large cooler" from the house.

Officials then placed it in the command center.

Police arrived at an address in Massapequa Park, under 30 miles east of New York City.

Witnesses report that police were at the scene all night.

The investigation has been described as "one of the most intense, prolific searches for a serial killer ever," per News 12 Long Island, which was the first to report the arrest.

The suspect arrested has been identified as Rex Heuermann, a detective confirmed to The US Sun.

He is an architect based in New York City.

The hunt for the serial killer has been ongoing since 2010, when the body of Melissa Barthelemy, 24, was discovered.

Within days, more women were found, including Megan Waterman, 22, Amber Lynn Costello, 27, and Maureen Brainard-Barnes, 25, with all wrapped in burlap.
