DONALD Trump is believed to have walked out of his own Super Bowl party early before his team made a historic comeback to win the game.
The President reportedly left the viewing party when his team, the Patriots, were getting smashed by 28-3 in the third quarter.
His early exit meant he missed his team’s astonishing comeback to 28-28 before James White’s two-yard touchdown in overtime.
Trump was quick to tweet his congratulations, saying: “What an amazing comeback and win by the Patriots. Tom Brady, Bob Kraft and Coach B are total winners. Wow!”
Earlier in the evening he had been pictured looking downcast as he watched the game at Trump International Golf Club in West Palm Beach, Florida.
His glamorous wife Melania was seen sitting next to him, but even she did not seen to be able to put a smile on the President’s face.
Eagle-eyed viewers have pointed out how footage from the party appears to show Trump ignoring his wife as he chats with White House Chief of Staff Reince Priebus.
The pictures have reignited the #FreeMelania hashtag that went viral after she was spotted scowling during Trump’s inauguration.
Trump may have also been put in a bad mood after watching Lady Gaga’s half-time performance.
It has been suggested the star was making a sly dig at Trump with her choice of songs.
She opened her performance with God Bless America and This Land Is Your Land – a protest song which has become the anthem of the Anti-Trump movement.
The LA Times reported that Trump’s motorcade was seen leaving the club just before 9pm – with the last quarter still to be played.
He is understood to have listened to the rest of the game over the radio on his way back to his beachside mansion.
The Patriots quarterback Tom Brady led his team to victory in overtime after the best comeback in the history of the NFL championship game.

Brady sank to his knees on the sideline at full-time before shedding a tear when on the podium to receive the Super Bowl MVP trophy.
Brady began the season with a four-game ban for his role in Deflategate, and broke down at a press conference earlier this week when talking about his ill mother.
The 39-year-old shared a moment with his wife Gisele Bundchen on the field and admitted he thought the game was gone at 28-3 down.
Brady said: "I was happy everybody was here. I had my wife, my kids, my parents, my sisters, my brothers-in-law and one of my sisters-in-law. A lot of friends and it was a full contingent of support.
“They’re all special. Two years ago it came down to Malcolm Butler making the play and this year down 25 points, I mean it’s hard to imagine us winning.
"It took a lot of great plays and that’s why you play to the end. It’s a 60-minute game. At half-time, I would say we weren’t down at all.
"We were disappointed in the way we played and we knew that we could go out and do a lot better in the second half.
"The one positive was we had the ball for 20 minutes and that was a great part in the first half. As the game goes on, that gets tough on the defense. In the Super Bowl, everyone is expending a lot of energy and when we got it rolling there in the second half it was tough to slow us down."
Running back James White had three touchdowns including the game winner in overtime.
Brady made 14 successful passes to the running back for 110 yards and was full of praise for the Patriots X-Factor.
The quarterback said: "What’d he have, three touchdowns tonight? It was unbelievable. What a hell of a game he played. It was awesome.”
"He’s just everything you want in a teammate and a football player and he’s dependable, consistent, durable. The best attitude, brings it every day and we just kept going to him. So I think that speaks for itself."
