Driver 'mows down several pedestrians' at Cologne airport with at least two police officers among injured | The Sun

A MAN has mown down several pedestrians in a parking garage at Cologne Bonn airport, police said.

At least two officers are among the injured after the suspect, 57, went on a terrifying rampage in western Germany on Friday morning.

According to reports, he careered into several people with a rental car before slamming into multiple other vehicles at around 9.30am.

He allegedly injured "five or six" victims after ramming into them with a black van, that was pictured in the airport car park.

Local media claims an Audi A5 was thrown into the entrance barrier, completely ripping the bar from its anchorage.

A Kia and a Volvo that were parked up also sustained some damage.

Police said there were indications that the man had mental health issues.

Eyewitnesses said the suspect had been acting suspiciously before the incident occurred.

According to German news outlet DW, the man injured two police officers while resisting arrest.

He was transported to a local hospital where he is undergoing psychological analysis.

The majority of victims are said to have sustained minor injuries.

A police spokesperson told Bild: "The perpetrator drove back and forth again and again.

"He rammed several vehicles with a black rental van.

"He apparently drove towards several cars and pedestrians. We are currently talking about several injuries."

No other details on the incident were immediately available.
