Drug driving mum, 26, jailed for killing uni graduate passenger, 28, in horror crash while 'euphoric' on nitrous oxide | The Sun

A DRUG driving mum has been jailed for killing a uni graduate in a horror smash while she was "euphoric" on nitrous oxide.

Nasrin Saleh, 26, has now been thrown behind bars for the crash which saw her Volkswagen Golf GT slam into a brick wall before it flipped and burst into flames.

Her passenger Luqman Mehboob, 28, died instantly.

Saleh has now been locked up for four and a half years for the tragedy.

A pal said prior to the crash they saw the Liverpool mum "having loads" of nitrous oxide canisters.

They said Saleh had about two to three boxes, which each contained 15 canisters.

When she was pulled from the flaming car by an onlooker, the mum admitted to "doing balloons" with Luqman.

Nitrous oxide is a colourless gas that when inhaled can make people feel euphoric and relaxed.

Some users fill balloons with the gas and then inhale it from them.

CCTV footage snapped her travelling at 103mph in a 40mph zone just moments before the crash.

Cause of death of girl, 12, & boy, 17, revealed after pair killed at beach

Tragedy struck when Saleh's car smashed into a roundabout wall at East Prescot Road, Knotty Ash.

Its front end lifted into the air, throwing the car onto its side and roof before it went up in flames.

Taxi driver Russell Cooper ran to the car with a fire extinguisher and dragged Selah from the vehicle.

BBC reported he carried her to some nearby grass and she told him: "We swapped, we were doing balloons, me baby, me friend, is he still in there?"

Russell rushed back and tried to pull Luqman from the flaming vehicle but he was unresponsive and the force of the blaze forced the taxi driver back.

Speaking in the Liverpool Crown Court, Judge David Aubrey KC said: "The court has no doubt you as the driver and Mr Mehboob, as the front seat passenger, were in a state of euphoria having taken nitrous oxide.

"It was the adrenaline of the moment, driving a powerful vehicle that you were unfamiliar with at grossly excessive speeds.

"It was inevitable that driving at those speeds, even with braking, that the car would collide with the wall of the roundabout."

Judge Aubrey added Luqman was "a special person to so many and a good friend to others".

He said his life came to "an abrupt end in the early hours of that Sunday morning while members of his closely knit family were anxiously making phone calls seeking to ascertain his whereabouts".

Luqman's mum Fahmida Kauser told the court of the pain she felt losing her only child – who had his whole life in front of him.

Fusad Arshad, mitigating, said Saleh accepted her actions resulted in his's death.
