Refugees fleeing besieged Ukrainian cities have told how drunk Russian troops kicked down doors to loot their houses and pulled women out to rape them.
A grandmother living in the town of Irpin, 13 miles north of Kyiv, said she saw several soldiers rape a mother and her 15-year-old daughter.
Branding the Russian soldiers ‘animals’, Anna Schevchenko, 63, accused the Kremlin of war crimes and told MailOnline: ‘You would not believe what we have lived through there.

‘The Russians were animals. They shot people trying to escape and left them in the street.
‘Drunk Russians kicked down the doors of cellars and pulled women out and raped them. One girl aged just 15 was raped with her mother by several soldiers.
‘They are animals. I hate them. One of my neighbours was shot in the back of the head by the Russians as he had shot a stray dog to eat as we were so hungry.
‘But they looked at his hands and thought he had been shooting at them so they killed him despite him being an old man.’
Ukraine President Volodymyr Zelensky has accused Russia of committing human atrocities in Bucha and Irpin on the outskirts of the capital where at least 410 innocent civilians have been slaughtered in the massacre, their bodies left by the roadsides and in basements where they sheltered from the shelling.

Mykola Kovalenko, 71, has just escaped from Bucha where he was trapped in heavy fighting.
‘I thought I would never see my family again,’ he said. ‘They shot people trying to escape. I saw bodies in the street that had been run over by tanks.
‘Putin must be made to pay for his soldiers have done. I saw an old woman in a nearby house who had been shot. What harm could she possibly have done to them?
‘They raped many women as well. It was hell.’
In Bovary, east of Kyiv one resident also told how drunk Russians had looted, beaten and raped residents.
Olga Bundarov, 58, said: ‘They dragged women out when they were drunk. Sometimes old women too. I had to hide as I was so scared.
‘One of my neighbours saw several women who had been hung after being raped.
‘I don’t know if the Russians had done it or they killed themselves after what they had done.’
Special forces soldier David Zhvania, 21, from Geogia, was recuperating in Kyiv after fighting in the heavily besieged city of Mariupol.
David, who volunteered to fight, said: ‘It is hell there. You get the chance to fire off a few rounds and then all hell breaks loose and you have to take cover from all the Russian fire.

‘It is terrible there. I saw women and children dead in the street. Even babies. Putin has a lot to answer for.
‘I came because I was wondered he will do to Georgia what he has done here.’
In Kyiv there are still nightly air raid sirens and distant bombing can be heard despite the Russain withdrawal.
There are few shops or cafes open and military roadblocks span roads.
Homemade roadblocks with broken down cars and even old trams block roads. People hope the war will end soon.
Student Dasha Haityna, 18, said: ‘I live near an airfield that was bombed here in Kyiv.
‘I was so scared with the bombs and gunfire. I hope it will be over soon but I don’t know.’
Her friend Vitalik Navrotskgi, 24, said: ‘I hope the war will end next month. But you never know. Putin is not human.’
